Karina Gordievich is a highly accomplished and dedicated piano instructor, performer, and accompanist, whose passion for music has defined her illustrious career. With Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Piano Performance, Karina brings a wealth of expertise and experience to her role.
Education and Affiliations
Karina's journey in music began at the age of five in her native country of Ukraine. Her early years and initial piano studies fostered a deep-seated love for music, propelling her towards a remarkable career. After immigrating to the United States, Karina continued her musical pursuits, studying under esteemed mentors such as Dr. Bowling and Thomas Schumacher at the Eastman School of Music. She further honed her skills at the University of Washington under the tutelage of Craig Sheppard.
Karina's dedication and talent have earned her numerous accolades, including recognition as an outstanding young business leader with the prestigious "40 Under Forty" Award by the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal in 2010. She is actively involved in local and national music programs, serving as a member of the Kitsap Music Teachers National Association and former President of the West Sound Music Teachers Association.
Teaching and Performance
With over 13 years of teaching experience and 30 years of performing, Karina's approach as an instructor goes beyond imparting technical skills; she aims to instill a love for music and encourage students to develop their unique style. Her teaching philosophy revolves around personalized instruction tailored to individual needs, whether students aspire to become professional musicians or simply enjoy playing for leisure.
Karina's versatility extends to her role as a performer and accompanist. She has lent her talents to a diverse range of events, including productions for Kitsap Opera, North Kitsap Children's Theatre, and various choirs and competitions. Her exceptional skills have been showcased on cable television and in several newspapers, affirming her status as a prominent figure in the music community.
